Week eight

This week, I talk to my friend from Japan. He was here last year, and I start to remember many things that happened before which are interesting. When we were in ESL last year, we had many good classmates whose from Arab, Japan and China. One day, Arabic classmates asked us to go to their party. We tried the traditional Arabic food, coffee and shisha. We sit on the ground and use our right to eat rice and chicken. Also we pray before we have dinner. That was fun, because we never use our hand to eat rice. It is difficult for us, we always drop rice on the floor. After we finished dinner, we start to talk and drink Arabic coffee, that was strange for me. I never taste that before, and the taste was not like coffee I taste before. Then, they teach us how to smoke shisha. This is my favorite part. I have tried shisha before in China, but their shisha was the best. I think that was the best shisha I have tried. We took many photos at that party.
We talked about many things that happened before, and I start to miss those people.

Week six

This week, I watched The Shawshank Redemption with my friends. I donnot remember how many times I watched this film, but it still was the favorite movie. In addition, it implanted me that hope is a good thing, may be the best thing in the world. I usually watch this film because it can remind me how important the hope is and encourge me to move on. In my opinion, the best part of this film was Andy Dufresne spend almost 30 years to excavate a tunnel to break the prison because he was sinless. Andy is a genius, and Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman's acting were impeccable. Only thing I was upset is this movie didnot get any awards from Oscar, but the position of The Shawshank Redemption in my heart is the best.

Untitled

This is a weary week this week. I have two exams at Thursday. I sleep at 2-3 a.m. every day; it is tired to prepare those exams. But after that, I go to cinema with my friends to see the Warm Body. That is an interesting film because I have never seen a zombie film like this. Warm Body is a zombie without horror and tension, just humor and warm. It is good to see this kind of film after exam. I have to say Warm Body is a nice film!

Also, this week is the Chinese New Year’s holiday; my parents go outside and travelling. I chat with them after they came back. They have a nice holiday during the Chinese New Year. In addition, they bring my cat with them to ensure she would not feel lonely during the travelling. I miss my family and want stay with them. This summer, I won’t back to China to have the summer holiday because I need to take the summer studio. What a terrible summer! Just joking! After I went to America, I realize that family is the most important thing for me. My father’s health is not good, even bad. That is the thing which I pay close attention and worried about it. I told him to protect himself and have good psychological implications. I think the good psychological implications are important for every patient. His heart have some problems, that why they choose to go to a quiet place without too much people.

Chinese New Year

This weekend is our Chinese New Year; we called that New Year’s Eve which is this Saturday night. In our tradition, our family would sit together and eat our traditional food. After that, we watch the Spring Festival on the television. Then, we will put fireworks in the sky to celebrate the Chinese Year New at the midnight. When I was a child, our families will give children red envelope which is money. Then, we can buy something that we want, especially toys. In China, people emphasize ‘new’ during the Chinese New Year, we think that will bring us luck in the next year. So, we will buy new clothes and new commodities.

Another interesting thing is people eat different traditional food in different places. In my hometown, we used to make meat and fish balls in the Chinese New Year. However, people in the north China like to eat dumplings. At Saturday, I will make dumplings with my friends. We cannot make my hometown’s traditional food because ingredients are limit. I already get used to have Chinese New Year in America. We cannot see our family, but we still have friends. Sometimes, I still get homesickness that will realize me the importance of my home country.

After the New Year’s Eve, we start the first day of New Year. We usually stay at home and keep our own luck. And then, we start to visit our friends. We have at least seven holidays during the Chinese New Year. This is the best holiday in China.

Third Week

The terrible weather is still sucks! I hate the fucking weather more than the first year I was here. The snow and the temperature make me feel I’m in ice-house  Everything is freezing!

However, there are some exciting things happened this week which is my friend’s birthday. We give him a surprise on Friday. We hide in his home when he hangs out with his girlfriend, and we turn off all the lights before they come in. Then, we jump out and sing the birthday song, after that we smash the big cream cake on his face ha-ha  After he cleans himself, we start to drink alcohols. We play a card game to trick him drink. It’s like we put trump card under every cups with different alcohols, and there are 3 circles of alcohols which are beers, wine and white spirit. He must choose cards and if the card is not trump card, he must drink a cup of alcohols. In the first around, there are 15 cards with one trump card. He could not find the trump card until the end. Unlucky boy!

After that, we start to chat with each other and watch the NBA. Miami Heat was against by Indiana Pacers and LA Lakers against Minnesota Timber-wolves  There are all exciting games, Heat lost and Lakers won. I remind that I was going to see Boston Celtics last winter break. That was the first time I saw the live game. It was an unforgettable memory! I hope I can see each team’s NBA game. 

Second week

There was a big snow this week, I cannot get used to it. Because it was difficult to went to school. And it made my life very inconvenient. There is a big difference between my hometown and Kent which is weather. In my hometown, the weather is very comfortable, especially in the winter. Snow is uncommon in our hometown, and the temperature is like 5-10 degrees. Today, there are two big dogs come to my house which are very cute dogs. Princess and Prince are their names. But they make a lot of troubles in my house. For example, the shit and piss in my chicken and keep making noise. In addition, they bite my furniture and messed up in my house. Such a toil day! They are sleeping like babies right now. ^ ^

This week, I went to cinema with my friends to saw The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. In the end, it showed us the power, faith and fetters of family. But I wonder why a horror film showed us this thing and seems far-fetched. I suggest it could adapt some plots of the stories to make film more intact. Unfortunately, we did not see the 3D.

I wish next week would have nice weather. Because it is too cold for me, Every time I walked to school, I felt like I was freeze. And I could be a torment for me. I live far away from the school, and I spent 20-30 minutes to walk to school. Wish god bless me. 

First week

It's already been a week since new semester begins, I found that my major curses are getting harder. It'a brand new challenge for me, and I feel stressed. Also I am going to take the summer studio this year. I hope that I could get this done well and keeping going on. My speaking is not really good, so I decided to take Human Communication this semester to improve my language skill, and to learn more skills of communication and speech. Thus fulfills my college life and helps me communicate with my different people well. 

I went back to China this winter, visiting my family, and I ate lots of hometown food, that was particularly delicious. Because I still can not get used to American food, so I tried to make my hometown food by myself last semester. My roommate and all of my friends fell love into my food, however, the materials are limited here, I couldn't find lots of things I need to make my food better, what a pity.(xD)   I learnt more ways to make food by my parents this winter, you know that there are many series of food in China, because people in different region like different tastes. There are food more sweet, salty, or spicy and light or heavy. And I have already improved my cooking skills a lot, and I would keep this trend going this semester as well. I hope I could do better this new semester just like my cooking does.~ ~
